About BG's Seafood Co-op

Located at 5 Old, US-80, Tybee Island, GA 31328, BG's Seafood Co-op operates as a seafood market serving Tybee Island in Georgia. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

Asian grocery stores and supermarkets stock ingredients, snacks and household goods that general American supermarkets often do not carry, organized by category rather than by country of origin in most stores. Produce and live or fresh seafood sections are usually at the back or side of the store, and weekend mornings bring the largest crowds and freshest restock. Many larger Asian supermarkets include a hot deli or food court counter selling prepared meals by the pound or as fixed plates, useful for a quick lunch while shopping. Labels are frequently bilingual or untranslated, so store staff can usually help locate a specific ingredient if you ask. Cash, cards and mobile pay are all commonly accepted at larger chains; smaller specialty shops may be cash-preferred.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 12–6 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach BG's Seafood Co-op at (912) 220-9678; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, facebook.com.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.8 out of 5 from 59 reviews, which is a strong result for a seafood market in Tybee Island and suggests consistent service.

Tybee Island is in Georgia, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Tybee Island follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Their James River Oysters are amazing. The service for me was outstanding. I ordered a few dozen oysters just as they were closing - and I needed them popped open. The lady who helped me was so nice about it. Tipped her nicely to show my appreciation.

We stopped by only at the fresh market not restaurant around half hour before closing. So nothing on display. The guy seemed like he wasn’t happy that we came as we asked him to clean the shrimps and fillet the fishes. He did it but with a sigh. Very very fresh but pricey. Got scallops ( around 41 per pound), shrimps and red fish which we cooked at the Airbnb and enjoyed it! Just would like it to be more customer friendly…

Service was good, Seafood seemed fresh. Sea Scalps were $41 a pound. I went to a different seafood market the next day and fresh/dry sea scallops were only $21 a pound, which is an appropriate price. Felt like this guy really took advantage of us, but that’s OK because my wallet does my protesting for the most part will not be going back there.

We love their crab cake and deviled crab. We normally buy 10 crab cakes each time and then cooked them at home. They are so delicious!
